hola!
espero tus comentarios!

Hello!
today I want to share with you my mini dead altar 2017
the box is made of cardboard and paper
most of the ornaments are handmade, some are modeled with paste of foam, others with some miniatures that I found out there. (small glass jars, plastic and metal beads, paper flowers)
I wanted to do this altar with elements of the most traditional, such as the religious image, flowers, candles, skulls, food, etc.
it is full on meanings:
the bright colors, mean life. live colors are used so that death does not make us sad.
THE COVER
MONARCH BUTTERFLY
in some towns of Mexico the belief is that the monarch butterflies that arrive in this season of the year, are the souls of death that come to visit us, nice! right?
ORANGE FLOWERS
The flower of Cempasúchil, as such, comes from Nahuatl and means 'twenty flower' or 'flower of twenty petals', is used as decoration and ritual offering on the Day of the Dead. It is customary to use the petals to mark on the ground the path that the souls of the deceased should follow to the domestic altars raised in their honor. This is because traditionally it was said that their petals kept the heat of the sun and illuminated the way back to the deceased. Petals are also used to form beads that symbolize beatitude.
FIRST FLOOR
the first floor represents the spiritual, we put a religious image, a saint or deity, which blesses our altar, so there are also candles and flowers
SECOND FLOOR
represents the dead adults, that's why I put bottles of liquor, beer, glasses and jars, and a Frida Kahlo picture
THIRD FLOOR
represents the little dead or children, that's why I put bread, food and desserts, sweet skulls
the bread of death is round because it means the circle of life, the circle above is the skull and those on the sides form a cross, and are the bones
Why do the sugar skulls have names?
There are two versions that are told about the names placed on the skull. One mentions that it is the name of the deceased who wants to remember putting it in the offering.
On the other hand is the name of who still lives, it is said that when you give a piece of these to a loved one (be it friend or relative), you keep a space in the underworld through the symbolism represented by the figure of sugar, thus sealing the destiny of the person.

now some information about this celebration
Did you know that ... The celebration of the Day of the Dead does not only last two days?
According to the grandparents, the tradition begins in this order:
- It begins on October 28 and lights the first light (white candle) and a white flower to welcome the single souls.
-On October 29, another candle is lit and a glass of water is dedicated to the departed forgotten and helpless.
-On October 30 a new candle maker is put in place another glass with water and a white bread is put for the deceased who left without eating or those who had an accident.
-On October 31 another candle is lit, we put another glass with water, another white bread and place a fruit (mandarin orange or guava) this is for the dead of the dead (ancestors) or the grandparents of your parents that some we had or have the pleasure of meeting them (great-grandparents).
-On November 1 is the day that is known as the day of the small dead, or children on this day put all sweet food, pumpkin, guava, chocolate, honey, flowers.
-The day November 2 known as the day of the faithful departed or the adult dead that is the day that is placed all food, cigars and their beers and in every day of the obvious celebration put flowers, incense is burned of copal of preference.
-At the end, on November 3, the last white candlestick is burned copal and dismissed asking them to return the following year.
In Mexico, it seems that we "mock" death, but it's the opposite, we have a lot of respect
Day of the dead IS NOT a celebration or worship of death, it is a celebration of life, the life of those who once were among us, is to remember those loved ones, and to do as they are back with us, at least in our memories.
A very curious fact that I remember as a child, (I´m 54) my grandparents and aunts did not allow us to listen to music or lit the television, we had to be quiet and calm, while adults put the altar and prayed
now this is rare in big cities, but still respect and stillness is maintained in many towns throughout the country
I await your comments!
